Sambalpuri Ikat is a traditional handwoven textile from  Sambalpur, Odisha. Ikat is also known as Bandha Kala, which is an ancient dyeing technique used to create a distinct type of textile pattern. It is known for its intricate tie-dye technique called “Bandha”. The yarns are first resist-dyed in precise patterns before weaving, creating vibrant motifs like shells, flowers, and geometric shapes. This labor-intensive craft reflects Odisha’s deep artistic heritage and continues to be a symbol of skilled craftsmanship.
