The famous Barmer Applique work is a traditional craft from Barmer, a district of western Rajasthan. This handcrafted applique work features intricate designs, use of co-ordinated vibrant colours. The Applique artisans use distinctive technique to create this master piece, where every piece shares its own story. The process starts with tracing of design on the cloth. Once the design is traced, the patterns are carved out with the help of chisel and hammer. The cut patterned fabric ….. glue on the main fabric and using blind stitch the pattern is meticulously sewn onto the background fabric. The confluence of different fabric and colour adds depth and liveliness to the craft and creates a beautiful mesmerising piece.
